Planning for success is not just
about meeting a certain goal. Have you ever accomplished a goal and then
realized that it wasn't really what you wanted after all? The first question
to ask is, what does success look like for you? If you make partner but
divorce your wife in the process, is that success? I believe in looking
at the big picture - the biggest one you can handle. Such as, what do you
want the rest of your life to look like? If you're willing, we can start
with defining your values and discovering your life mission. What areas
of your life (work, relationships, health, etc.) are important to you? What
is your vision for your life in each of these areas? Once this is done,
then we can start looking at goals that fit with your vision, and steps to
meeting these goals. Finally, you can take action on these steps, and we
can work on any obstacles that might arise along the way.
Sound like a lot of work? I'll work with whatever level of planning
you're comfortable with, and I'll walk through it with you step by step.
And certainly you can take some action before you have a clear vision.
My hope is that before you arrive at the finish line, that you are clear
that you're running the right race.
